A
gunman is dead and three people are injured after a shooting at a high
school in West Texas, but the danger might not be over yet as cops are
racing to investigate threats at a nearby college.
Alpine High School was placed on lockdown after reports of an active shooter Thursday morning.
El Paso Proud reports
that a female student was found dead in a school bathroom from a
self-inflicted gunshot wound and that a student and responding officer
were among the injured.
The
Brewster County Sheriff's Office previously said that as many as two
gunmen were attacking the school, so it's unclear if another gunman is
still at large.

The
student and officer who were injured have not been identified and it's
unclear how serious their injuries are. Brewster Sheriff's authorities
have since said that a federal agent injured in the shooting was hurt by
friendly fire.
A
spokeswoman for Big Bend Regional Medical Center said the hospital are
tending to three 'victims'. Spokeswoman Ruth Hucke declined to say
whether the victims had been shot.
It's
still unclear what sparked the shooting on Wednesday. Elizabeth Carter,
a lieutenant with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said someone
brought a gun onto the campus this morning.

'There was blood all over the hallway and my friend was shot,' one Alpine student told CBS 7.
Local
reporters are now saying that cops have been diverted to nearby Sul
Ross State University, after someone called police and threatened the
school.
'Sheriff
Dodson said someone called them and said "y'all better leave me alone"'
and made threats against the school, according to Marfa Radio reporter
Travis Bubenik.
